Titans finish regular season with a bang

The Lodi Academy boys basketball team finished the regular season with a 74-22 blowout over Bel Holt Academy.

Now the Titans wait for the Sac-Joaquin Section’s release of basketball playoff brackets this afternoon. Lodi Academy finished third in the Mountain Valley League with an 8-6 record (12-11 overall), behind Aspire Hughes Academy at 12-1, Stockton Christian at 10-4 and Delta Charter at 9-4. Lodi Academy is Division VI, but Hughes and Stockton Christian move up into Division V, leaving a window of opportunit­y for the Titans to sneak in.

Against Ben Holt, William Dos Reis led Lodi Academy with 23 points, along with 17 from Tony Olivarria, 14 from Rami Abu-Ramaden, 12 from Dylan McColley and eight from Jacob Ortiz. McColley added 10 rebounds, and Olivarria had eight assists and five steals.

BOYS BASKETBALL Varsity Chandler Garcia led the Hawks with 23 points and Jalen Patterson added 20 in Tuesday’s victory.

Liberty Ranch (20-7, 9-1 Sierra Valley Conference) pulled away in the second half for its sixth win in a row after a 29-29 halftime tie. The win secured the Hawks’ second straight SVC title.

Corey Potthoff added 14 points, Jaime Gonzalez had six and Chri Fielding and Jayden Baroni had two each. Freshmen

Richie Biegler scored 11 points and David King had 10 to help the Flames win on Wednesday. Julius Latteri and Logan Stout added six each, Jace Haro had five, Andreas Pappas had fou, Brady Pike had three and Trevor Jackson had two.

GIRLS BASKETBALL Freshmen

Ashlee Toy led the Flames with 19 points and added nine steals in Tuesday’s win, along with 12 points, nine rebounds and two steals from Patricia Coffaro and seven points and nine steals from Anaka Roman.

BOYS SOCCER Frosh-soph

Jose Gonzalez scored the winner on a corner kick that curved into the net for the win on Tuesday. Sebastian Quiroz scored Tokay’s first goal on an assist from Jordan Baumback.

Mark O’Hannigan scored Lodi’s goal on an assist by Sergio Sandoval.

In goal, Julian Lopez player well for Lodi, while Miguel Cervantes blocked two shots for Tokay in the first half, and Christian Valencia had thee saves in the second half.

WRESTLING

Galt High had one champion in Rigoberto Yepez at 160 pounds at the SVC championsh­ips over the weekend, and qualified eight others to the Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV tournament.

Jonah Delrio (120 pounds), Joshua Davidson (126), Isaiah Saenz (138), Erik Peterson (145), Ian Reece (170) and Anthony Nazzisi (185) placed second, Jacob Maldonado (152) took third and Christophe­r Meixner (195) placed fourth.

The D4 tournament starts Friday at Union Mine High.
