Concerned about the Hill House

Editor: To quote the recent Hill House news article that was in the paper, “What has been going on with the Hill House was not appropriate use of it,“per Ms. Lea.

Again to quote Ms. Lea, “The more appropriate use would be having art, poetry and music at Hill House.” Does this sound like a possible commercial venture? In a residential area, no less? I am sure the neighbors would love having to listen to public played music? Sort of like people who live near wineries that hold events with music.

“The plumbing is a problem.” Does this sound like a possible renovation rather than repair? If it turns out that is the case, I hope the city of Lodi denies a building permit for improper use of a museum.

“The original owner stated in his will Hill House was to be a museum.” So, is this a private venture and Ms. Lea wants to live in the house? No museum any longer?

The citizens and community of Lodi (The Lodi Historical Society) have been the ombudsmen of Hill House. To have Ms. Lea accuse them of misappropriation of funds sounds like trying to create a smoke screen to cover up something else. Whatever is going on here, it sure doesn’t sound like a museum use. I have never believed in shunning, but in this case, in my opinion, there could be an exception. That will give Ms. Lea peace with Lodi. ELIZABETH GOODING Lodi
