Pancake breakfast a huge success

-

Editor: The Kiwanis Club of Greater Lodi extends a sincere thank you to the community of Lodi for a wonderful and successful 4th of July pancake breakfast.

Kiwanians “serve the children of the world,” and our efforts to serve students are much less effective without the support of the community. We have a host of programs, from elementary school through college, that provide support, encouragement and success to students throughout the Lodi area.

Each of these efforts received a boost from all who attended our 48th annual breakfast at Lodi Lake. I wish to extend my personal thanks to the following for their part in this wonderful event: our corporate sponsors: Dart Container Corp., Coca-Cola, Food4Less/Rancho San Miguel markets, Raley’s Supermarket, and Corbin Lane Sober Living for Women.

Additionally, Lakewood Meats and Smart & Final both provided quality food at a substantial discount; Club members Laurance and Judy Bertalino and Mike and Judy Harmon for their special support; Kiwanis Key Club members from Lodi High, Tokay High, Bear Creek High, McNair High, Middle College High; Circle K Club members from Delta College and UOP; Lodi High Drill Team; and all of the members of the Greater Lodi Kiwanis Club (and many of their family); the City of Lodi Parks & Rec. (especially Jennifer Winn and Cathi DeGroot), and the Lodi Police and Fire departments.

I likely have overlooked someone deserving recognition; my apologies to you, but thanks for your support as well. Our annual event proved to be a huge success because of all who helped, and “Thank You” falls well short of the gratitude I wish to extend to each of you.

With the support of the community and the help of all mentioned above, we served some 4,000 breakfast, a record for this event. All of the proceeds from this event will go directly in support of our student-focused programs. I can’t wait for our 49th annual breakfast (but be sure to share in our next major community event, the Kiwanis “Parade of Lights” in December).
