Lodi 15U all-stars headed to state tourney

The Lodi Babe Ruth 15 and under all-star baseball team is off to a perfect start.

Playing at the Babe Ruth District 7 tournament recently, Lodi went 3-0, starting the tournament with a 12-1 win over Ripon. Then it swept San Benito by scores of 6-1 and 4-3.

In the latter game, San Benito lead 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning. Then Lodi’s Mason Robbins doubled to right field to drive in the tying run in Dillon Buckmiller, who was on second base. Next Lodi batter was Marcello Murillo, who singled to left field that moved Robbins to third. After an intentiona­l walk to Angelo Zazzarino that loaded the bases, Lodi scored the goahead run when Zeke Nino walked to plate Robbins.

Lodi moves onto the State Tournament in Reedley that begins Friday, playing Corcoran at 10 .m.

Members of the Lodi team are Kyle Shannon, Robbins, Jose Hinjosa, Zeke Nino, Buckmiller, David Fuentes, Logan Stout, Colby Baker, Murrillo, Zazzarino, Zack Loftis, Jonathan Charboneau, Niko Cabrera and Cody Mize. Manager is Tim Robbins, and assistant coaches are Frank Martin and JJ Varny.

Lodi 12s

Playing in its Cal Ripken State Tournament, Lodi banged out 15 hits to knock off the Liberty Ranchos all-star team 11-7.

Leading the hitting parade for Lodi was Auston Schmierer and Joshua Anderson, both of whom had three hits each. Dante Cecchini, Dylan Bartlett and Cooper Rostomily had two hits each, and Gianni Casazza, Aiden Ramos and Steven Whiting had a hit each.

Another Clovis team bites the dust, also on the Fourth of July, as Lodi recorded an 8-1 win.

Preston Plath and Austin Meehleis had two hits each for Lodi. Plath also had an RBI. On

the mound, Meehleis and Devine went three innings each, giving up only two hits.

Lodi 9s

Lodi made a lot of noise on the Fourth of July at the Central California Cal Ripken Tournament. Trailing 9-0 to Clovis, Lodi rallied late in the game to defeat Clovis 14-9.
