Lodi police make arrests in non-fatal shooting, assault

The past few days have been busy for the Lodi Police Department, with a non-fatal shooting and an attempted assault on Tuesday, according to Officer William Hinton.

Officers responded to Adventist Health Lodi Memorial Hospital at approximat­ely 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday, after receiving reports of a 36-year-old male being admitted to the emergency room with a non-life-threatenin­g gunshot wound. The male told officers that he had been shot by another male during an altercatio­n in the area of West Kettleman Lane and Hutchins Street.

Officers located Wayne Hill, 45, on the 300 block of West Elm Street at approximat­ely 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, and Officer Vito Cipponeri arrested him without incident on suspicion of assault with a firearm, police said.

Officers also arrested a man suspected of assault with a deadly weapon on Tuesday, according to Hinton.

Jason Crandall, 38, was allegedly in an argument with another male on the 1400 block of Holly Drive, after which he attempted to intentiona­lly run over the male with whom he had been arguing while threatenin­g to kill him, police said.

Crandall was arrested without incident by Cpl. Andre Belaski on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and making criminal threats.
