Adventist Health Lodi Memorial honors physician of the the year
Adventist Health Lodi Memorial announced that Dr. Nagui Sorour has been awarded the Physician of the Year Mission Award, given at the 11th annual Adventist Health Clinical Summit on Sept. 11.
The Mission Awards are given to Adventist Health doctors who are examples of the health system’s mission of living God’s love by inspiring health, wholeness and hope, according Adventist Health.
Sorour joined the Lodi Memorial team as a general surgeon in 1978, shortly after completing his residency at Deaconess Hospital in 1977, and graduating from University of Cairo in Egypt. Since joining the Lodi Memorial team, Sorour has demonstrated outstanding surgical care by going above and beyond his duties.
“As a bedside nurse, I could ask him any question or come to him with any concern, no matter how small,” said Medical-Surgical department manager Robin Clay. “He would always respond, sometimes teasingly, but always with a positive nature. Dr. Sorour has always been the rock of the hospital. His focus has always been what is best for the patient. He has always had a dedication to doing the right thing, every time.”
“He takes people’s emotions and pain to heart, and cares deeply for the patient and families,” said Lodi Memorial Perioperative Services Director Kent Wallace, who nominated Sorour for the award. “He has served Lodi for many years and is an example of what excellence in healthcare can be. He is very well respected and treats all of those around him with respect and patience, even in times of stress and frustration. Dr. Sorour exemplifies the Adventist Health mission in his practice and daily life.”
The Physician of the Year Mission Awards are just one part of Adventist Health’s annual Clinical Summit, which brings physician leaders together from all around the healthcare system.
The two days are focused on transforming patient care for the future, Adventist Health said.
