DELORES SAYLER HARR

-

Delores Sayler Harr stepped into the Lord’s presence on February 27, 2018 at the age of 91. Her presence here will be greatly missed, but her influence will live on in her family and others who knew and loved her. Born Delores Preszler on July 30, 1926, her parents were Daniel and Claudia (Kallenberger) Preszler. Though she was born in Bismarck, she lived in Medina, North Dakota until moving to Lodi when she was in sixth grade, graduating from Lodi High in 1944. It was in Lodi where she met the love of her life, Walter Sayler, and they were married in 1945. Together they raised their three children, John, David and Leasa. After becoming a widow at the age of 45, she was later married to John Harr until his death in 1996.

Delores was a member of Temple Baptist Church for 67 years, singing in the choir and teaching Sunday School. She was a founding volunteer and summer time member of the Silver Lake Chapel for over 35 years. She loved serving as a docent at the San Joaquin County Historical Museum where she was the acting “Mrs. Santa” for 30 years at the annual Festival of Trees. She also presented “Gramma’s Trunk” to schoolchildren. These activities were most often shared with her dear friend, Lois Hildenbrand, with whom she participated in many adventures and good times.

Delores was a person of great warmth, kindness and depth. She considered the needs of others before her own, and loved to show hospitality to all. She enjoyed social activities, had a wonderful sense of humor, and had a passion for many kinds of music. Her dearest love was that for her family, hosting countless meals and activities and making each person feel important and loved.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents, her mother-in-law, Lydia Sayler, and her husbands Walter Sayler and John Harr. She is survived by her three children and their spouses: John and Becky Sayler (Roseville); David and Kathy Sayler, and Leasa and Gene Napier (all of Lodi). She was also blessed to be the proud grandmother of six grandchildren (Melinda Sayler Kern, Karen Sayler Yates, Danielle Sayler Luigs, Kimberly Sayler Seyford, Bethany Napier McElrath, and Nathaniel Napier) and seven great grandchildren.

A family graveside service was held on March 1, 2018. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. on March 17, 2018 at Temple Baptist Church. Memorial donations may be made to Silver Lake Chapel, c/o Kathy Wharton, 945 East St, Lafayette, CA 94549.
