LODI FALLS TO TRACY IN PITCHER’S DUEL, FALLS TO 1-2 IN TCAL

The Lodi High baseball team came out on the short end of a pitcher’s duel on Friday in Tracy, with Logan Stout going the distance in a 2-1 loss.

Stout allowed both Tracy runs (one of them unearned) in the first inning, and finished with five hits and three walks allowed to go along with three strikeouts.

Tracy’s Kyle Mulhern allowed four hits and one unearned run, with two strikeouts.

“After the first inning, he settled down,” Lodi coach Hobie Schultz said of Stout. “It was just a well-played game by both teams. Good pitching duel on both sides.”

Fidel Ulloa went 2-for-3, while Angelo Zazzarino and Stout added singles for the Flames (7-7 overall, 1-2 TriCity Athletic League). Bobby Yabumoto had Lodi’s lone RBI, driving in leadoff hitter Logan Morita.

St. Mary’s 11, Tokay 0

The Tigers had three hits in Friday’s shutout loss, with singles by Logan Drummond, Jaime Quesada and Cory Glasgow. Tokay loss all three games of its TCAL-opening series by a combined score ot 32-2. Freshmen

Lodi 10, Tracy 3

The Flames used six hits, six walks and four errors to rack up 10 runs on Friday, with a double from Domenic Demski and singles by Hayden Hildenbran­d, Connor Costello, Ty Molen, Jake Fritz and Jett Tomek.

Molen and Tomek had two RBIs each.

SWIMMING Tokay 97, West 75

Julio Murguia had two individual wins to help Tokay to victory on Friday in Tracy, taking the 200 freestyle at 1 minute, 54.74 seconds and the 500 freestyle in 5:06.65.

Other winners included Hayden Wilson in the 200 individual medley (2:15.91), Owen Canestrino in the 100 butterfly (1:08.59), Nate Bonham in the 100 freestyle (54.81), Jason Winters in the 100 backstroke (1:11.28) and the 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay teams (1:39.57 and 3:53.16). Tokay 108, West 62

Nicole Iturraran and Katie McLaine each won two individual events in Friday’s victory — Iturraran won the 200freesty­le at 2:11.59 and the 100 freestyle at 59.82, and McLaine won the 200 individual medley at 2:16.34 and the 100 breaststro­ke at 1:10.00.

Other winners included Hannah Ortiz in the 50 freestyle (27.94), Jessica Cunningham in the 100 backstroke (1:20.10) and the 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay teams (1:49.91 and 4:05.66).

TENNIS

Liberty Ranch 8, Union Mine 1

The Hawks earned a nearsweep in Friday’s SVC match, with only one girls doubles match falling.

In girls singles, Branna Muiruri waon 6-4, 6-1 and Stefanie Salgado won 6-2, 6-4; in boys singles, Jacob Mitchell won at No. 1 and Nick Mancebo won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2; Alejandra Flores and Alisa Cruz won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 girls doubles, while Mason Ginni and Michael Prior waon 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 boys doubles and Hunter Franklin and Mason Smith won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 boys doubles.

Kirsten Miller and Val Rodriguez won 6-2, 5-7 (10-5) at mixed doubles. Varsity boys

St. Mary’s 6, Tokay 3

Tokay won two doubles matches by default on Friday, with the Rams not fielding enough players. But St. Mary’s had enough firepower to get it done, with only Nicholas Lozano earning a point for Tokay by defeating David Dalporto 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (7) at No. 1 singles.

TRACK AND FIELD Tracy 91, Tokay 41

Winners for Tokay were the 4x100 relay team of Chase Howell, Adan Vigueras, Dillon Schmidt and Leo Garcia at 49.93 seconds; Cameron Wisely in the 800 meters at 2 minutes, 6 seconds and Alek Francovich in the 3,200 meters at 10:31. The 4x400 relay team of Varsity girls

Tracy 86, Tokay 49

Taking first place finishes for the Tigers were the 4x100 relay team of Gloria Mejia, Lauren Frisk, Frankie Newbanks and Mattisen Pevehouse, with a time of 56.31 seconds. The twin sisters of Kali and Kari Anema ran in the 1,600 meters, and finished first and second at 4:40 and 4:41 respective­ly. Kari Anema also won the 800 meters at 2:35. Frankie Newbanks was second in the high jump at 4 feet, 4 inches, and Michelle Meza second in the 100 meters at 14.11.
