Today is Eating Recovery Day for people with disorders
SACRAMENTO — Eating Recovery Center, which provides treatment for people with eating disorders, is holding its annual Eating Recovery Day today.
This year’s theme, #MyRecoveryLetter, invites eating disorder survivors to write a letter to the person, item, or spirit that embodies recovery for them, showing others that recovery is possible. This call to action extends to family, friends, clinical experts or anyone who served as a support system.
Calligraphist Yomar Augusto has developed an exclusive calligraphy font for Eating Recovery Day. Every participant who submits a letter at MyRecoveryLetter.com will have it transformed into a keepsake item that can be shared on social media platforms by using the hashtag #MyRecoveryLetter.
Anyone who has an eating disorder or wants to support someone with one is invited to visit MyTeamRecovery.org to learn more about how to raise awareness. To find out about Eating Recovery Day events happening around the country, please visit EatingRecovery.com.
Eating disorders affect more than 30 million people in the U.S. alone. More than 70 percent of sufferers do not seek treatment due to stigma, lack of education or lack of access to care. However, statistics show that up to 80 percent of patients who complete eating disorder treatment improve or recover, the Eating Recovery Center says.
