EVELYN GANNON

-

Evelyn Gannon, 87, passed away on May 1, 2018 in Lodi surrounded by her family after battling pulmonary fibrosis. Evelyn was born in San Jose to Mary and Herman Max on September 2, 1930. She is preceded in death by her sister Margie Garibaldi and is survived by her husband Bryant, daughters Kathy Ogren (Tim) and Carol Day (Bill), sister Betty Max, four grandchildren, and 15 greatgrandchildren.

Evelyn and Bryant established Gannon Trucking, Inc. in 1979, where Evelyn aired tires, dispatched, and was bookkeeper extraordinaire, before retiring in 2007.

Evelyn enjoyed taking aeronautics classes to help Bryant navigate while they flew around scouting out and playing golf courses of the west. She served on the board of the San Joaquin Historical Society, was a proud member of Native Daughters of the Golden West, and was a long-time member of the Fore Tee Niners of Woodbridge Country Club.

With a passion for life and laughter, Evelyn enjoyed playing with the hens, bridge, golf, doing crossword puzzles, gardening, collecting rocks and studying geology, air shows, playing with her chickens and going for Friday adventures drives with her daughters; especially seeing the Roadrunner at the Desert Botanical Garden, Phoenix.

Always up for anything, Evelyn learned to crosscountry ski at 65 and also began riding mountain bikes along the west shore of Lake Tahoe at that time. She made any outing an adventure; riding a bicycle built for two down San Francisco’s Embarcadero, sailing the bay, watching Giants’ games through the knothole, playing night golf in Phoenix, drives in the foothills, birding classes, and Kayaking on Lodi Lake for her 83rd birthday (in the rain?)! The best 80th birthday ever was at the Western Pacific Railroad Museum where Kathy arranged for Evelyn and Bryant to drive a train! Bigger smiles were never seen on any other 8(0) yearolds!

There once was a lady named Evelyn

Who loved biking San Francisco, but not peddlin’

Spent all her money on ice cream

Back to the sailboat for sweet dreams

To get up and watch Giants win it again!
