Galt man arrested after loaded shotgun found hidden in vehicle

GALT — At approximat­ely 7 a.m. Monday, an officer from the Galt Police Department made contact with 38-year-old Jerrett Baffa of Galt, near South Lincoln Way and F Street. Baffa had an outstandin­g felony warrant, according to a post on the department’s Facebook page.

The officer detained Baffa and placed him in the back seat of a patrol vehicle, where police said Baffa then kicked the rear window out of the patrol vehicle.

Officers found a loaded shotgun concealed in Baffa’s vehicle, and arrested him on suspicion of the felony warrant, felony vandalism, weapons violations and obstructin­g an officer.

Mosquito spraying scheduled for Lodi area

LODI — The San Joaquin County Mosquito and Vector Control District will spray the ground near Lodi for adult mosquitoes using Pyrocide 7067 between 7 and 10 p.m. either today or Friday, depending on weather.

Spraying will take place in a portion of the rural Delta west of Lodi, north to Highway 12, south to Telephone Cut, east to one mile west of Interstate 5 and west to three miles west of Interstate 5.

Lodi Historical Society to feature story of USS Lucid

LODI — The Lodi Historical Society will host David Rajkovich, president of the Stockton Maritime Museum, electricia­n Charles Pyle and photograph­er Mark Tovar for its September program. Rajkovich, Pyle and Tovar will share the story of the restoratio­n of the USS Lucid, built in Louisiana in 1957, and presently in the Stockton Channel. The USS Lucid was decommissi­oned, used as a yacht, sold as scrap and is now coming back to life.

The program will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Hutchins Street Square Senior Center. The public is invited to this free program, and refreshmen­ts will be served.

Red Cross to hold blood drive in Lodi this Friday

LODI — The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Drysdale Property, 2401 W. Turner Road, Lodi.
