Lodi girls tennis silences the Bulldogs

The Lodi High girls tennis team improved to 2-3 in the Tri-City Athletic League and 11-4 overall with an 8-1 win over West on Wednesday.

Five of the Flames’ singles players won their matches. Lodi’s No. 1 singles player Nikki Barajas led the way with a 6-3, 6-4 win. Johnna Schroeder, the Flames’ No. 2 singles player, was folllowed by No. 3 Mia Carouba, No. 5 Jenna Dougherty and No. 6 Julia Sherman winning their matches in two sets. The Flames’ No. 4 singles player, Anna Spaletta, fell in three sets at 3-6, 6-1, 6-3.

The Flames’ No. 1 doubles team of Alyssa Mataga-Kaylee Mataga and the No. 3 squad of Mary Barnes-Victoria Eaton won their matches in two sets each. Julia Archibeque and Emily Johnson, the Flames’ No. 2 team, went three sets for the win; 6-3, 3-6, 10-2.

Varsity

VOLLEYBALL

The Tigers fell 25-15, 25-16, 25-15 on Wednesday in Tracy, with five kills and eight digs from Kayly Pau as Tokay fell to 12-13 overall and 0-2 in TCAL play.

Grace Polhemus had nine digs, Anahi Ramirez had two digs, Ravneet Rajasansi had five assists and two digs, Taylor Willis had three aces and two kills, Natalie Polhemus had four assists, four kills, two blocks and six digs and Ehlie Burroughs had three blocks. Junior varsity

Kyla Thornton had five kills as the Tigers won 25-12, 12-25, 15-10. KimLe had seven assists, four digs and three aces and Darianna Guisi had 19 digs. Freshmen

Megan Daniels had nine kills, five aces and two digs, as the Tigers won 25-17, 25-12. Paris Vang added eight aces and seven digs.

Varsity

GOLF

The Flames fell to 1-3 in the TCAL and 3-3 overall with Wednesday’s loss at the par-35 Stockton Country Club. Desiree Vasquez led the Flames with a 46, followed by Devin Franklin at 54, Caroline Seibly at 58, Katelyn Gonzalez at 64 and Hollie Becker at 66.

The Flames play at Tracy today at Tracy Country Club.

WATER POLO Varsity girls

Nicole Iturraran had six goals for Tokay in Wednesday’s non-league road match. Hannah Ortiz and Sydney Stewart had two goals each and Lizzie MacFarlane one. Goalie Alnna Stoops had eight saves for the Tigers.
