Don’t stereotype liberals

-

Editor: This is in response to Orlene Dentone’s letter regarding how out of control “liberals” are.

As a Democrat for 48 years, I have over and over tried to tell Republicans that there is a broad spectrum in referring to how “liberal” Democrats are. They can be slightly liberal, moderately liberal, as I am, or very liberal. I know that on the Republican side as well, there are moderate conservatives as well as far right wing conservatives, so knowing that I never bunch them all together,.

Dentone stated that the “liberals” were throwing tantrums with regards to the Kavanaugh hearings, but where were you when Judge Kavanaugh was throwing his own little tantrum when being questioned, tears and all?

With regards to this issue about sexual assault, I feel it has been suppressed for decades due to feelings of guilt, embarrassment, and feeling that no one would believe them. I applaud women for coming out and talking about it now. With Kavanaugh, he really is the only other one other than the doctor who knows what happened. Maybe he does not remember what happened, or just chooses not to because it would probably affect the rest of his life.

There is a small group of liberals who like to stir up trouble, and I do not condone their actions, but they are a small minority when compared to the millions of Democrats who stand by their beliefs and believe there is a right way and wrong way to speak what they believe and stand their ground. And with regards to Dentone’s other statements, answer me this: Does the man in the White House respect opinions other than his own? Only people who agree with him. Ask the 30 or so people who have already left the White House by firing or kindly being asked to resign. Does the man in the White House ever make false statements or accusations about other people? All the time.

So don’t speak in general terms about “liberals.” DEBBY MONCRIEF Lodi
