Amer­i­can Le­gion hosts Vet­er­ans Day ob­ser­vance

LODI — Amer­i­can Le­gion Lodi Post 22 will hold a Vet­er­ans Day ob­ser­vance at 11 a.m. Sun­day at the Le­gion Hall, 320 N. Wash­ing­ton St., Lodi.

The key­note speaker will be re­tired Army Com­mand Sgt. Maj. Dan El­der, and Post Com­man­der Mike Bennet will serve as mas­ter of cer­e­monies. High­lights of the pro­gram will be pro­vided by Vicki Clark with Girl Scout Troop 130 lead­ing the “Pledge of Al­le­giance,” Audi Sil­ber and Dot­tie Phelps lead­ing third and fourth graders from Lodi Sev­enth-day Ad­ven­tist el­e­men­tary school in pa­tri­otic songs, and mil­i­tary and pa­tri­otic mu­sic played by the Lodi Com­mu­nity Band un­der the di­rec­tion of Art Holton III. Robert Gross, for­mer band di­rec­tor and Post 22 ad­ju­tant, will play “Taps.”

Glenn Gliss­man of Boy Scout Troop 95 will post the colors and Ken Kram­lich, past State Le­gion com­man­der, will present the POW/MIA trib­ute. Mar­tin Jones, past Post ad­ju­tant, will open the cer­e­monies with the in­vo­ca­tion, and Post chap­lain Chad Don­ley, preach­ing min­is­ter of the Ham Lane Church, will pro­nounce the bene­dic­tion.

Mem­bers and vet­er­ans of the var­i­ous Armed Forces will be rec­og­nized as the band plays the theme mu­sic of each group, and a light lunch of hot dogs, chips and soda will be served af­ter­ward.
