American Legion hosts Veterans Day observance

LODI — American Legion Lodi Post 22 will hold a Veterans Day observance at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Legion Hall, 320 N. Washington St., Lodi.

The keynote speaker will be retired Army Command Sgt. Maj. Dan Elder, and Post Commander Mike Bennet will serve as master of ceremonies. Highlights of the program will be provided by Vicki Clark with Girl Scout Troop 130 leading the “Pledge of Allegiance,” Audi Silber and Dottie Phelps leading third and fourth graders from Lodi Seventh-day Adventist elementary school in patriotic songs, and military and patriotic music played by the Lodi Community Band under the direction of Art Holton III. Robert Gross, former band director and Post 22 adjutant, will play “Taps.”

Glenn Glissman of Boy Scout Troop 95 will post the colors and Ken Kramlich, past State Legion commander, will present the POW/MIA tribute. Martin Jones, past Post adjutant, will open the ceremonies with the invocation, and Post chaplain Chad Donley, preaching minister of the Ham Lane Church, will pronounce the benedictio­n.

Members and veterans of the various Armed Forces will be recognized as the band plays the theme music of each group, and a light lunch of hot dogs, chips and soda will be served afterward.
