NEVA JEANNETTE BAUER

December 13, 1928 - November 1, 2018

Neva J Bauer, age 89, entered peacefully into eternity November 1, 2018. She was born December 13, 1928 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Ralph and Edith Teague. She earned her teaching credential from Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington in 1950, the same year she married her college sweetheart, Stanley Lee Bauer. She accepted a high school teaching position in music and drama upon graduation. Neva later joined her husband in Texas, who was stationed at an Air Force Base for four years during the Korean War. After the service, Neva and family moved to Pendleton, Oregon for five years, then to Arcata, California for 15 years. During those years, Neva taught piano lessons while working toward her master’s degree in music. After 20 years of teaching piano lessons, Neva and her husband changed career paths and moved to Santa Rosa to manage a Christian book store.

To better share their love of God and servitude, Neva and Stan opened Living Way Christian bookstore in 1981, serving the community of Lodi for 17 years. Neva was a woman of strong faith believing in the power and strength of Jesus Christ’s love which she shared through mentoring, prison ministries, bible studies and leading prayer groups. She also served the community she loved as a committee member for the Parade of Lights and served on the Board of Directors for the Lodi Crisis Pregnancy Center.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Stanley and infant daughter Beverly, children Russell and Marci, grandson Nathan and siblings Marjorie and Judy. She is survived by her children Terri Phillips (Robert), Sherri Bauer, Judi Gerrits, grandchildren Derick, Lindsey, Melissa, Jason, Tiffany, Terry Jr., and Kristina, and seven great grandchildren, and her siblings Nora and Ralph.

Funeral arrangements are by Lodi Funeral Home. Public visitation will be Wednesday, November 14 from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. and Thursday, November 15 from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home, 7255 Fairmont Ave. Lodi, California. Burial will be Friday, November 16, at 11:00 a.m. at Cherokee Memorial Park, Hwy. 99 E Harney Lane, Lodi, California. Friends and family are invited to Century Assembly Church, 550 W Century Blvd., Lodi, California at 12:00 p.m. for a celebration of Neva’s life and fellowship.
