Shirley Ann Hoegerman of Lodi, California passed away on November 6th, 2018. The daughter of Edward and Marian Thomas of San Leandro, Shirley was born in San Francisco in 1933. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward, her parents, her sister Roberta, and her daughter Catherine.

Shirley graduated from Holy Names University with a Liberal Arts degree in Language Arts, Philosophy and Political Science. She also received her teaching credential from Holy Names as well.

She married Edward Hoegerman of Lodi shortly after receiving her teaching credential. She raised three children, Tom (Lisa) of Apple Valley, CA, Frances (Dean) of Lodi, and Carolyn (Dan) of Oswego, NY. She has three grandchild­ren, Joanna, William, and Garrett.

She taught in Linden Unified School District for over 20 years. She participat­ed in various community organizati­ons including Sultana, AAUW, Boy Scouts of America, Camp Fire Girls, and the Lodi High School Marching Band Boosters.

Shirley was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church and also participat­ed in various other local church groups. She enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Nifty Niners. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, listening to classical music, and attending plays and musicals. She enjoyed spending time with her kitty, Misty.

Internment will be private, and memorial mass will be announced at later date. A celebratio­n of her life will be held Saturday, November 10th at Brookdale Assisted Living of Lodi from 1 PM to 3 PM.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to the Friends of the Lodi Library, PALS of Lodi, or the March of Dimes.
