Earl Lee Derby passed away Thurs­day, No­vem­ber 29, 2018 at the age of 84. He was born in Markville, Min­nesota on May 5, 1934. He is pre­ceded in death by his first wife Lois who died in 1990, his sis­ter Al­ice May Newman, sis­ter Hazel Derby, and brother Ed­ward Derby. He is sur­vived by his brother Don­ald Derby, sis­ter El­iz­a­beth Costa, and do­mes­tic part­ner Mar­ion An­der­son.

Earl came to Cal­i­for­nia with his par­ents at two years old and grew up in French Camp. He grad­u­ated from Man­teca High School in 1948. He worked for six years in the Man­teca area and then joined the United States Navy in 1954 and was hon­or­ably dis­charged in 1958.

Earl worked as a main­te­nance en­gi­neer at the Stock­ton Ship Yard, Moore Equip­ment and Dameron Hos­pi­tal in Stock­ton where he fi­nally re­tired.

He met his part­ner of twenty eight years Mar­ion An­der­son in No­vem­ber 1990. They moved from Cal­i­for­nia to Ore­gon in 1995 and back to Lodi in 2013. Earl will be dearly missed by Mar­ion and her two sons and their wives, Dan (Pa­tri­cia) An­der­son, Larry (Ge­orgeann) An­der­son, their fam­i­lies and Mar­ion’s ex­tended fam­ily. Also dearly missed by his brother Don­ald Derby and sis­ter El­iz­a­beth Costa and their fam­i­lies.

The fam­ily will cel­e­brate his life with a pri­vate event.
