Lodi schools go 0-3 in first round of Classic

All three Lodi-area boys basketball teams playing in the Edison McDonald’s Classic in Stockton lost their first-round games on Wednesday.

Tokay dropped a 69-41 loss to host Edison, with Mohammad Ibrahim leading the Tigers with 13 points. Austyn Reiswig added six and Cam Taylor had five as the Tigers fell to 0-6.

Elliot dropped a 63-22 decision to Modesto, with Nate Gotgotao-Washington the top Eagles scorer with six points. Ryan Ehresman added five, Zrebric Humphrey and Peyton Yarbrough had four each, Josh Alejandre had two and Alexander Pinasco had one.

Elliot and Tokay will play today at 8 p.m. at Weston Ranch.

On the other side of the bracket, Lodi fell 64-44 to Cosumnes Oaks, with Colton Stout and Nathan Shoup leading the way at eight points apiece. Marcell Roberts added seven, then four players had four points each — Chase Shafter, Andreas Pappas, Trevor Jackson and Matt Nickel. Erville Dela Cruz had three and Jace Haro added two.

Lodi will play Cordova at 3:30 p.m. today at Weston Ranch.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Varsity

Liberty Ranch 62, Ripon 60

Jalen Patterson scored 24 points and Jaime Gonzalez added 18 as the Hawks stayed undefeated in Tuesday’s victory. Gonzalez broke a 60-60 tie on a layup with 1.5 seconds remaining.

Jayden Baroni had eight points, Isaac Padilla had six and Josh Seiler had six for Liberty Ranch (5-0), which held a 10-0 halftime victory.

River City 85, Tokay 54

Mohammad Ibrahim led the Tigers with 15 points in Tuesday’s loss to the team coached by former Tokay coach Travis Okamoto. Adam Johnson and Austyn Reiswig added 12 points each.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Varsity

Galt 51, Casa Robles 39

Sophomore guard Raina Saldivar led the Warriors with 10 points in Tuesday’s victory, followed by Haley Sanchez with 16, Kaya Weaver with six, and Mizan Johnson and Hannah Aguirre with two each.

East Union 58, Tokay 36

Mia Misasi led the Tigers with 14 points and four steals in Tuesday’s loss. Simone Medeiros added eight points, Anyiah Dean had four points and 10 rebounds, Alanna Rose Stoops had three points, the trio of Sunna Khan, Mio Moriki and Madison Gonzales had two points each and Estefani Rodriguez had one as Tokay fell to 1-4.

Junior varsity

Woodcreek 51, Lodi 46

Annette Vasquez led the Flames with 17 points on Tuesday, along with 13 from Angie Fugazi, eight from Savannah Head, four from Viviana Fugazi and two each from KayLeigh Coberly and Aaliyah Williams.

East Union 32, Tokay 28

Zahleyah Miller led the Tigers with 13 points in Wednesday’s loss, along with six from Amara Charles, four from Ahmiene El-Kheidi, three from Angela Varela and two from Doonya Khan.

GIRLS SOCCER Rodriguez 3, Lodi 0

Emily Smith scored twice for the Mustangs, which sent the Flames to their second loss in the first three games.
