Tigers take down McNair in boys and girls soccer

The Tokay High boys soccer team opened the week with a 6-0 shutout over McNair on Monday, with two goals and an assist from Eduardo Guillen.

Jordan Baumback added a goal and an assist, with goals from Christian Gonzalez, Luis Baez and Matthew Salas, and assists from Leo Ruiz, Eduardo Rodriguez, Cristian Garcia and Sebastian Quiroz to help Tokay improve to 4-1. Miguel Cervantes added a save in goal. The girls team also defeated McNair, 30, with a hat trick from Sophia Casciaro. Assists went to Vylyn Ha, Ilene Izaguirre and Noelia Salas. Madison Covey-Taylor had three saves, and Makennah Finch had one.

BOYS BASKETBALL Liberty Ranch 67, OT 75,

The Hawks improved to 8-0 and won the Stonebarge­r Tournament in Brentwood with the help of tournament MVP Jalen Patterson, who hit a 3-pointer to send the game to overtime and finished with 26 points.

Liberty Ranch outscored Liberty 12-4 in the overtime period.

Jayden Baroni added 16 points, Isaac Padilla had 15 and Josh Seiler had 11. Baroni and Padilla were both named to the all-tournament team.

Buchanan 62, Lodi 53 LibertyBre­ntwood

Marcell Roberts tallied a double-double as the Flames finished the Edison McDonald’s Classic with a loss. Roberts was named to the all-tournament team.

Colton Stout added 16 points, Matt Nickel had seven points and three blocks, Chase Shafter and Logan Stout had four points each and Nathan Shoup had three points.

Brookside Christian 64, Tokay 48

Mariano Montez led the Tigers with 14 points in Monday’s loss, along with eight from Jorden Lawrence, seven from Ryker Henne, six each from A.J. O’Grodnick and Cylas Riley, five from Jacob Halstrom and two from Nick Merrill. Freshmen

Lodi 48, Rio Americano 43

Mason Stout led the Flames with 17 points in Saturday’s victory at the Sheldon Tournament, along with eight from Adan Alvarez, six from Dylan Johnson, five from Angel Landa, four from Dylan Scott, three from Carter Swicegood, two each from Madden Luiz and Owen Faulkner and one from Hayden Moore.

On Monday, Lodi defeated Lathrop 5853 in a lon-league game, led by Scott and Alvarez with 13 points each.

GIRLS BASKETBALL Galt 51, Millennium 21

The Warriors took the consolatio­n championsh­ip with Saturday’s victory at the Linden Lions Tournament, with the help of Raina Saldivar’s 14 points and an early 12-0 lead.

Haley Sanchez and Kaya Weaver had 11 points each, Priscilla Baez had four, Mizan Johnson had three, and Galt (5-3) had two each from Julia Baffa, Hannah Aguirre, Karina Aguilar and Casi Gonzalez.

Escalon 48, Tokay 31

Aniyah Dean recorded a double-double in Tokay’s loss at the Linden Lions Tournament, with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Simone Medeiros added eight points and five assists, Alanna Rose Stoops had four points and Jackie Enciso and Madison Gonzales had two points each for the Tigers (2-6).

Amara Charles led the Tigers with 14 points as they won the consolatio­n championsh­ip of the Linden Tournament. Ahmiena El-Kheidi added nine, Yasmeen Ibrahim had three, Sofia Sala and Zahleyah Miller had two each.

GIRLS SOCCER Tokay 9, McNair 1

Jazmynn Giorgi led the Tigers with five goals in Monday’s victory, along with two from Esmeralda Santoyo and one each from Leslie Gama and Emma Ayech.

Assists went to Santoyo, Gama, Jaci Soto and Rorie Hernandez.
