KEN TANABE

-

November 29, 1938 - November 21, 2018

Ken was born and raised in Lodi, CA to Yasuo and Helen Tanabe on a small family farm. After graduating high school he served his country in the Air Force as an aircraft mechanic. Upon his discharge he moved to S. Lake Tahoe, CA in 1963. There he met and married his wife, Nancy, in 1975 and raised their children. After retiring from United Parcel Service in 2001, he moved down into the Carson Valley and lived in Gardnerville, NV until his death.

Ken loved fishing, camping and traveling in their RV, cards, games of all kinds, jigsaw puzzles, football, skiing and seafood of any kind. But most of all Ken loved people. He never met a stranger, was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed it. He was quick to laugh, had a great sense of humor and an infectious smile. He was active in his church until his health began to fail and even then he stayed active in the community. He will be greatly missed by all those who know and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Tanabe, his sisters Joyce Tanabe and Jayne Tanabe, his children Steve Wheeler, Cindy Draper and Dan Wheeler as well as 9 grandchildren.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11am at Lifepoint Church, 1095 Stephanie Way, Minden, NV
