Liberty Ranch gets revenge on Calaveras

The Liberty Ranch High boys basketball exacted a bit of revenge on the team that knocked them out of the SacJoaquin Section Division IV playoffs last year.

Jalen Patterson scored 31 points as Liberty Ranch cruised to a 65-48 victory over Calaveras and improve to 9-0 this season. It was Patterson’s third 30-point outing in four career games against Calaveras.

Jaime Gonzalez scored nine, Isaac Padilla had eight and Jayden Baroni had six. Liberty Ranch heads to the Argonaut Tournament on Thursday, where the Hawks will face University Prep-Redding (6-2).

Calaveras beat Liberty Ranch, Galt’s second high school, in the quarterfin­als of the section playoffs last winter. But the Hawks earned a CIF NorCal playoff berth, reaching the semifinals.

Tokay 64, Ben Holt 61

The Tigers got their second win of the season with Monday’s victory, with Adam Johnson and Austyn Reiswig leading the way at 14 points each. Mohammad Ibrahim added nine points, Michael Shoaib had eight, Hamza El Kheidi had five, Chase Ivey had four and Anoop Singh had three for Tokay (2-6).

Lodi 63, Lathrop 49

Jaylin Reed led the Flames with 20 points in Monday’s victory, along with nine from Colton Stout and Marcell Roberts with eight points and 11 rebounds. Chase Shafter, Logan Stout and Matt Nickel had six points each for Lodi (4-5) and four each from Nathan Shoup and Trevor Jackson.

Junior varsity Lodi 54, Lathrop 50

Isaac Bishop scored 22 points to lead the Flames in Monday’s victory, with Stephanos Pappas adding 14. Andres Zavala had six points. Max Graves had five points, Frank Vega and Stephano Casciaro had three each and Tyler Lenhertz had two.

GIRLS BASKETBALL Lodi 54, Vacaville 47

Brooke Aberle had 21 points for Lodi (5-7), which led 28-20 at halftime in Tuesday’s non-league game at The Inferno.

Marissa Fabian followed with 10 points for the Flames, Ellie Van Tassel eight, Aiyana Evans six, Rachel Avellar and Isabella Fugazi four points each and Hannah Wilson and Patricia Coffaro two each.

Galt 49, Mesa Verde 14

Three players scored in double figures for Galt (6-3) in Tuesday’s non-league game in Citrus Heights; Raina Saldivar had 19 points, Kaya Weaver 12 and Haley Sanchez 10. Julia Baffa, Jessica McAllister and Mizan Johnson had two points for the Warriors, and Madison Petersen and Casi Gonzalez had one point each.

Galt jumped out to a 13-3 lead in the first quarter. The Warriors led 29-7 at halftime.

Lodi 66, Vacaville 31

Savannah Head and Angie Fugazi scored 17 points each in Lodi’s victory on Tuesday, along with 13 from Annette Vasquez, 10 from Reese Hohenthane­r and nine from KayLeigh Coberly.

Tokay 32, Linden 20

Angeleen Ghuman led the Tigers with eight points in Tuesday’s victory, along with seven each from Paulina Barron and Ingrid Mackey, four from Audrey Van Rutten, and two each from Yasmine Garcia, Maisyn McLivain and Baleria Ochoa.

BOYS SOCCER Galt 6, Sheldon 0

Galt remained undefeated Tuesday, beating Sheldon in a non-league game in Sacramento.

Gilberto Lopez had three goals for Galt (7-0-1). Teammates Alexis Gonzalez, Eduardo Garcia and Ramiro Ramirez had a goal each. Davin Marquez had four assists and Warrior goalie Maico Ortiz had 14 saves.
