Fasih Ur Rehman was born at 3:37 a.m. Jan. 1, 2019 at Adventist Health Lodi Memorial, making him the first child born in Lodi at the start of the new year.

Rehman is the third son born to the Ur Rehman couple.

“He has two older brothers, one who is four, and the other is 21⁄2 years old,” his father Khalil Ur Rehman said on Wednesday.

The couple is excited to welcome their newest son Fasih, he said, and his two older brothers were ecstatic to meet their new brother.

Fasih weighed in at 7 pounds, 11 ounces and was 18.5 inches long.

For many parents selecting a name can be a drawn-out process, but for the Ur Rehmans, the decision came easily.

The couple, of Pakistani descent, chose the name Fasih in part because it means eloquent, literary or ample. They also liked the name, which is Arabic.

The couple is thrilled to introduce their son to their family and friends.

“We will have a large celebration with our family,” Rehman said.

The custom under Pakistani tradition is for the parents to host a party, called an Aqeeqa, with close friends and family as they welcome the child into the world.

According to Lauren Nelson, communication manager at Lodi Memorial, four children were born on New Year’s Day in Lodi — two boys and two girls.
