Vernon Aman, (81), of Lodi, California passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 12, 2019 surrounded by his family. Born to Theophiel and Magdalena Aman in Egeland, North Dakota in 1937, Vernon had ten siblings. His family moved to Montana when Vernon was three years old. At the age of fourteen, the family moved to Lodi, California where Vernon graduated from high school in 1955. Vernon worked for the City of Lodi in the Public Works Department for thirty-seven years. A number of years after retirement, Vernon and his wife, Diana, moved to Lincoln, California. They lived in Lincoln for twelve years before returning to Lodi to be closer to family. Vernon had a passion for life. Family campouts were a favorite pastime as were boating and fishing excursions on the Delta and RV traveling. In his retirement years, Vernon and his wife, Diana, traveled south in the winter and north in the summer in their RV, returning home for the holidays and special family events. In the fall, he would cheer on his favorite football team, the San Francisco 49ers. In the spring, you would always find Vernon in the garden; he enjoyed gardening, growing flowers and vegetables. He also enjoyed working with his hands and made many wonderful birdhouses and other crafts. Walking on the beach was one of the simple things in life Vernon loved to do along with dancing and playing cards, especially Bridge. Vernon is survived by Diana, his wife of 44 years; his four children, Cindy Capron (Andy), Terry Aman (Debbie), Kim Sepulveda (Mike), Sandy Levy (Ken); his stepson, Toby Costa (Lynda); his fourteen grandchild­ren Elizabeth, Christophe­r, Rebecca, David, Daniel, Timothy, Toby Ann, Patricia, Emily, Megan, Gregory, Abigail, Melissa and Hailey; three step-grandchild­ren Russell, Christophe­r and Andina; sixteen great grandchild­ren; and his brother Norman Aman. Vernon is preceded in death by his son, Gregory Aman; his son-inlaw, Patrick Miner, granddaugh­ter, Ashley Aman; five brothers Theodore Aman, Elmer Aman, Melvin Aman, Lloyd Aman and Carence Aman and three sisters Frieda Benzel, Irene Watt, and Vivian Schreiner. A viewing will take place on 01/16/2019 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Lodi Funeral Home, 725 S. Fairmont Ave. A Celebratio­n of Life will be held on 01/17/2019 at 11:00 am at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 1540 W.
