Three-pronged attack carries Flames

Marissa Fabian led the Lodi girls basketball team with 15 points in Monday’s 44-34 road victory over West.

Lodi coach Brandon Shea said a three-pronged attack worked for the Flames, with Brooke Aberle hitting a couple of big 3-pointers early in the game before running into foul trouble, which is where Fabian picked it up. Ellie Van Tassell was the driving force down the stretch.

Van Tassell finished with 10 points, Aberle had nine, Ashley Vasquez and Veronica Alejandrez had four each and Ashley Toy had one as the Flames improved to 10-13 overall and 5-2 in Tri-City Athletic League play.

Liberty Ranch 46, Galt 36

Courtney Six led with 15 points as the Hawks improved to 11-12 overall and 3-4 in the SVC on Friday, along with nine from Olivia Nelson, six from Briley Jordet, five from Ashley Kirbyson, four from Olivia Klotz, three from Giovanna Parino and two each from Jada Hightower and Nicole Schwedhelm.

Raina Saldivar led the Warriors with 11 points, along with nine from Kaya Weaver, five from Haley Sanchez, four from Hannah Aguirre, three from Julia Baffa and two each from Jessica McAllister and Mizan Johnson.

Lodi 40, West 16

Annette Vasquez and Savannah Head scored 15 points each in Monday’s victory, along with eight from Reese Hohenthaner and two from Sophia Alejandrez as the Flames improved to 10-14 overall and 3-5 in the TCAL.

Liberty Ranch 43, Galt 10

Jess Lawton led Liberty Ranch with nine points as the Hawks improved to 22-1 overall and 6-0 in SVC play, along with six each from Hannah Lopez and Nancy Angeles, five from Valeria Vuevas, four from Hannah Freitas, three from Isabella Felix and two each from Bertha Mendoza, Madison Alford, Hannah Duryee, Joslyn Jackson and Luisa Contreras.

Naveah Pate finished with six for the Warriors, with two each from Emily McCalla and Norma Meza.

Austyn Reiswig scored 10 points to lead the Tigers in Monday’s loss, along with six each from Anoop Singh and Hamza El Kheidi, five from Adam Johnson, four from Gurveer Badyal and two each from Carlos Cotto, Huzaifa Wasiq and Michael Shoaib. Junior varsity

Cylas Riley led the Tigers with six points in Monday’s loss, along with four each from Nick Merrill and Daniel Dad, three each from Uri Penaflor, Jacob Hallstrom and Mohammad Ahmad, and two each from Ryker Henne and Jorden Lawrence. Freshmen

Carter Swicegood led the Flames with 13 points in Monday’s victory, while Kevin Dondero added 11, Steven Whiting had five, Madden Luiz and Dylan Johnson had three each, Hayden Moreno and Angel Landa had two each and Jack Youngberg, Owen Faulkner and Riley Ebbs had one each.

On Friday, Lodi lost 59-41 to St. Mary’s, with 11 points from Dondero, seven from Madden Luiz, four each from Adan Alvarez, Landa and Mason Stout, three from Pierce DeAndreis, and two each from Youngberg, Johnson, Whiting and Ebbs.

WRESTLING SJS Duals

The Tokay boys wrestling team was the fifth seed heading into the Sac-Joaquin Section Division Dual Tournament on Saturday at Lincoln High, and exited the event with a 57-22 loss to Folsom in the first round.

Max Hittle at 120 pounds won his match with a pin, as did Jacob Pursell at 170 and Robert De La Torre at 182. At 160, Moyses Luciano earned a major decision with a 9-0 victory.
