Lodi, Galt police make many firearms and drug arrests
The Lodi and Galt police departments were both busy this weekend, making multiple arrests for firearms and drug charges.
While conducting probation compliance checks with San Joaquin County probation officers on Saturday, Lodi police detectives made two arrests, issued a probation violation and recovered an illegally possessed firearm, according to a post on the Lodi Police Department’s Facebook page.
David Macias, 18, of Lodi was arrested on suspicion of possessing an unregistered firearm with a serial number that had been removed.
Antonio Barajas, 25, of Lodi was arrested on suspicion of possession of cocaine, illegally possessing ammunition and two outstanding warrants.
A 17-year-old juvenile was issued a probation violation for allegedly possessing marijuana and smoking paraphernalia.
When Galt police officers conducted a traffic stop near Caroline Avenue and South Lincoln Way at approximately 9:49 p.m. Friday, according to a post on the Galt Police Department’s Facebook page, officers observed drug paraphernalia in plain view upon contacting the driver.
With assistance from a K-9, officers found approximately 27 ounces of methamphetamine, several used meth pipes, a digital scale and numerous zip-lock bags in the vehicle.
The driver, 32-year-old Jeanette Barajas of Lodi, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance for sale, transportation of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a suspended license.
