DOROTHY JEAN BROWN

Dorothy Jean Brown died peacefully at the age of 92 on June 17, 2019. Dorothy was born on April 22, 1927 in Sacramento, CA to Lewis and Josie (Tremaine) Hall. After Josie died in 1928, Dorothy was raised by her maternal grandparen­ts, Lillie Belle and Howard Ware.

Dorothy graduated high school in 1944. On February 26, 1945, Dorothy married Elmer at the First United Methodist Church in Reno, NV in a double ceremony with their good friends, Walt and Delores Sayler. Elmer and Dorothy enjoyed a wonderful almost 68 year marriage.

Dorothy loved being a homemaker and raising her four children, Bob (Judy) Brown, Jack (Catherine) Brown, Karen Anderson, and Kathleen Sedillo. She was also very involved in her community; the Lodi Fire Dept. Auxiliary, Cub Scouts Den Leader, Blue Birds and Camp Fire Girls Leader, and Lodi Sister City Committee. Her hobbies included stamp collecting, writing to 32 pen pals around the world, learning Japanese, hosting exchange students in the summer, playing golf, researchin­g ancestry with the Germans From Russia Society, traveling throughout the United States after Elmer retired, hosting many parties in their home that Elmer built in 1949, and being a Giants baseball fan.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church since 1950. In addition to her children, Dorothy is survived by eight grandchild­ren, four greatgrand­children, two nieces, a nephew, two sister-inlaws, and two brother-inlaws.

Graveside services will be held on Tues., June 25th at Cherokee Memorial at 10:30 a.m., followed by a reception at the Lodi I.O.O.F. Lodge at 6 S. Pleasant Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a favorite charity. There will be no visitation. Collins Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangemen­ts.
