Grocery Outlet kicks off July with Independence From Hunger campaign
LODI — Grocery Outlet, 520 S. Cherokee Lane, has begun its Independence From Hunger campaign, where people can donate $5 in store or online to help combat food insecurity in San Joaquin County. Residents of Lodi are encouraged to stop by the Grocery Outlet store and donate to their campaign at the register.
According to the California Association of Food Banks, one out of every eight Californians does not know where their next meal will come from, and one in five children go to bed hungry each night. Summertime tends to be a busy time for food banks, as kids are out of school and more families are in need.
Over the past eight years, the campaign has raised $5 million for local community nonprofits.
The Independence From Hunger campaign will continue through July 31. For more information, visit
