Crime operation nets 28 arrests in county
Seven law-enforcement agencies joined forces Monday through Wednesday, mainly in the southern part of San Joaquin County, to pursue suspects in multiple crimes, the Sheriff's Office reported.
Major cases included an active honey oil lab with children present; a documented gang member and convicted felon with various weapons, including a stolen firearm; an active parolee found to be selling marijuana, gun parts and large amounts of illegal fireworks at his residence; and a registered sex offender found in possession of pornography.
Other arrests were in cases involving domestic violence, property crimes, drug charges, parole violations, a stolen vehicle, and bringing drugs into the jail.
Among those arrested, with their alleged crimes were:
• Daniel Garcia, 20; honey oil lab with children present.
• Andre Cox, 33, registered sex offender found in possession of porn.
• Anthony Wilson, 29; parolee at large, bringing methamphetamine into the jail.
• Alexis Vasquez, 18: Marijuana sales, possession of brass knuckles, illegal fireworks and other weapon charges.
• Jesus Vasquez, 42; illegal fireworks.
According to the Sheriff's Office, the so-called Operation Independence involved about 65 officers hitting the streets daily.
All told, the multi-agency task force conducted 90 residence/location searches and 105 traffic stops; made 13 subject stops, 28 arrests, and picked up two for parole violations; issued four misdemeanor citations and 53 traffic citations; located several guns including one that was stolen; recovered one vehicle; and confiscated a large amount of illegal fireworks.
