Girl, 10, shot in back­yard in south Stock­ton

STOCK­TON — A 10year-old girl was shot while she was in her south Stock­ton back­yard on Tues­day af­ter­noon, po­lice re­ported.

The vic­tim was struck by gun­fire at around 4:20 p.m. as she was out­side a res­i­dence in the 400 block of East Clay Street, ac­cord­ing to the re­port.

Authoritie­s said the vic­tim was taken to a lo­cal hos­pi­tal for treat­ment of a non-life-threat­en­ing in­jury. Of­fi­cers said on Wed­nes­day that the vic­tim is ex­pected to sur­vive.

Po­lice said a man was seen get­ting into an un­known ve­hi­cle and flee­ing the area; how­ever, there were no ad­di­tional de­tails re­leased.
