Man shot, killed in north Stockton
STOCKTON — An early morning shooting connected to a north Stockton bar left one man dead and police investigating the city’s 34th homicide of 2019.
The shooting was reported at 1:41 a.m. Monday at the Thornton Plaza shopping center in the 9300 block of Thornton Road. When officers arrived, they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers and medics took measures to save the man’s life, but he died at the scene from his injuries, according to police.
The victim’s name has not been released pending positive identification and notification of next of kin by the San Joaquin County Coroner’s Office.
Several Thornton Plaza merchants said the shooting occurred at the Captain’s Anchor bar at the back of the shopping center. People in the bar Monday
morning declined the opportunity to comment.
Community Service Officer Rosie Calderon, a spokeswoman for the Police Department, said there is no suspect information and no known motive at this time for the shooting.
