Robert M. Mayer was born on May 24, 1925. He went to see Jesus on June 26, 2021 at the age of 96. He was born to Emil and Magdlena Mayer at Masons Hospital in Lodi, California. He attended Live Oak School and graduated from Lodi High.

He served two years in the US Army in Okinawa and occupied Japan. He was among the first US Troop ships to arrive in Yokohama Harbor, then was stationed in Tokyo. He came home in August 1946 to work with his father farming row crops. Bob worked for Claude C. Wood Company and retired after 30+ years. He then worked for California Cushion Company and opened Lodi Fabric and Foam, then retired. Bob was a hunter and a fisherman.

He married Anita Resner in 1947 and was married for 21 years. Together they had two children — daughter, Joan (Keith) Ota; and son, James Mayer. After Anita passed away, he met and married Bonnie Miller Fike in 1969. The two were married 52 years. Bonnie brought three daughters into his life — Kristian Robinson, Laurie (Henry) Freeman and Lynn (Roy) Gepford. Later, another daughter, Debra Heyerman from Redding, joined the family.

In addition to his wife of 52 years, and his children, Robert leaves behind 5 grandchild­ren, Kip Ota, Ian Coberly, Alistair (Joshua) Johnson, Gabriel Gepford and Miller Robinson; and his great grandchild­ren, Ayla, Kim and Emily Ota, Maxine Robinson, Eleanor and Hezekiah Johnson.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Evageline Stokes.

There will be a Military Memorial Service at 9 a.m. on October 1, 2021 at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon.
