Some good eats for a good cause

-

Editor: The American Legion and Lodi/Tokay Rotary Club are again teaming up to bring you another drive-thru Oktoberfest on Oct. 16. Due to the continued COVID pandemic and unpredictable, state and local restrictions, we are unable to hold our traditional Oktoberfest.

Legion and Rotary cooks will be preparing all of the traditional favorites: grilled bratwurst, chicken schnitzel, German potato salad, sauerkraut, sweet Red cabbage, cheese button, dinner roll and apple strudel. It will be served by Rotarians, piping hot to you in front of the Veterans Memorial Building, Legion Hall. Tickets are $30 and may be purchased at the Legion office on Friday afternoons or from any Lodi/Tokay Rotarian.

The net proceeds of the dinner will benefit the American Legion and its programs for veterans and their families. Rotary sponsorships are available and 100% of those proceeds will benefit the community of Lodi through the Lodi/Tokay Rotary grants program. Call the Legion office at 368-1420 for tickets and information.

The Veterans Memorial Building has been sold but the Legion has tenant presence and is still serving veterans and their families. Your continued support will help guide the Legion Board as we look to the future. Many thanks for your past support.

Please join us again in supporting Post 22 of the American Legion.

Vaccine mandates

I have not heard yet nor did the President the other night mention how or if the U.S. government will make, compel, or coerce, the millions of people who do not work to get the vaccine.

You know the millions sitting around and making $20 per hour for doing nothing. The ones that taxpayers are paying for doing nothing.

I don’t believe OSHA will be visiting them and fining them $14,000, if some in the company are unvaccinated.

Here is a suggestion. There will be no more food stamps, welfare or unemployment checks handed out to you unless you are vaccinated by say Nov. 1. How many of you reading this think that might happen? Not many I suspect.

However if you work your tail off and are a business owner you will be fined, or if you are a hard-working American and just wish to enjoy the freedoms set forth to you in those outdated and racist founding documents you will be forced to actually quit your job. Might as well. Get $20 an hour for doing nothing and the iron fist of government won’t come calling. Well they will to drop your check off I guess.

I wonder how many millions of unvaccinated fall into this scenario along with the millions racing across the border illegally. I would suspect that adds up to a very large number. Hey Joe, why don’t you tackle that first before you go out on TV and try to strong arm lawabiding citizens and try and distract us from your absolute fiasco and tragic Afghanistan debacle.
