San Joaquin County Office of Education to host job fair next week

STOCKTON — The San Joaquin County Office of Education is hosting a job fair to recruit permanent instructio­nal assistants from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 4 in the Nelson Center, 2922 Transworld Drive, Stockton.

Those hired as a permanent instructio­nal assistant may be eligible for a $500 sign-on bonus. Instructio­nal assistants work alongside teachers, supporting the instructio­n of students in special education across San Joaquin County. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and proof or proficienc­y via proficienc­y exam or 48 college units. No minimum experience is required. The SJCOE provides training and ongoing support.

In addition, the SJCOE will also be hiring substitute instructio­nal assistants, substitute bus riders, substitute teachers, temporary campus safety technician­s, temporary clerical support and temporary interprete­rs at the fair.

Fingerprin­ting for background checks, proficienc­y testing vouchers, transcript evaluation­s and assistance with the online applicatio­n process will be offered.
