Boston Red Sox add Jaylin Davis, a right-handed outfielder, from Giants
The Boston Red Sox claimed righthanded hitting outfielder Jaylin Davis off waivers from the San Francisco Giants on Thursday. Boston optioned him to Triple-A Worcester.
The 27-year-old is 13-for-44 (.295 batting average) with two homers, three doubles and thee steals in 10 games for TripleA Sacramento so far this year.
He has played in 26 major league games for the Giants over the past three seasons, going 10-for-63 (.159) with a double and homer. He has made 17 big league starts in right field and one start in left field.
He has a career .271/.346/.484/.830 line with 90 home runs, 95 doubles and 11 triples in 488 minor league games.
The Minnesota Twins initially selected him in the 24th round out of Appalachian State University in 2015.
