Wilton Rancheria casino recruiting for hundreds of jobs ahead of fall opening
Sky River Casino is hosting a job fair May 9 in Rocklin for positions across the establishment as the new Elk Grove resort prepares for a fall opening.
The all-day fair is 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Rocklin Events Center, 2650 Sunset Blvd. Sky River plans to hire as many as 2,000 employees to staff the $500 million Wilton Rancheria and Boyd Gaming casino project now under construction near Highway 99 and Kammerer Road in Elk Grove.
Positions are available from bartenders and servers to cooks and chefs; table game dealers, drivers and hosts; to positions in information technology and management.
All positions including managing and supervisorial positions will be interviewed. Applicants must register in advance.
Job seekers can visit careers.skyriver.com to apply for open positions and are asked to bring resumes and valid identification to the interview.
Sky River’s Rocklin job fair is the first of a number of large-scale hiring events planned across the Sacramento area in the coming months, Gibase said.
“We’re planning to have hiring events through the casino’s opening,” Chris Gibase, the casino’s senior vice president of marketing, said. “We’ll have several big events announced in the next couple of weeks.”
Sky River officials did not disclose starting wage and salary information, but said pay will be “very competitive.”
Carrie Gordon, Sky River’s vice president of marketing, said the casino is a good fit for people seeking career growth.
“There’s a really good opportunity for career progression,” Gordon said.
Sky River will be competing for hires in a crowded gaming market that already includes Thunder Valley Casino Resort near Lincoln; Red Hawk Casino in Shingle Springs; Jackson Rancheria Casino Resort in Jackson; Yuba County’s Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sacramento at Fire Mountain; and Cache Creek Casino Resort in Yolo County.
Smaller hiring events have already gotten underway in Elk Grove, Gibase said, including a recruiting session for food and beverage workers on Monday as department heads begin to build their teams.
