DONALD DEVOLLD

Donald “ZuZu” Duane DeVolld died peacefully surrounded by his family, on May 5, 2022 at home in Stockton, Ca at the age of 89. Donald is survived by daughters Linda Landon, Vicki Reynolds, Susan Lynn and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Donald was born on July 8, 1932 in Oakland, Iowa and relocated to San Francisco, Ca in 1936 due to the Great Depression.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Beverly Jean. She was the love of his life and constant companion. They worked together in various businesses for 38 years and were the original owners of Zu Zu’s Ski Shop in Stockton.

Donald led a healthy and active lifestyle. You would often find him lifting weights, riding his bike, mowing his lawn or up on the roof making repairs. He was an avid skier until the age of 84. He once challenged himself to ski every month of the year and made it to 96 consecutive months. Unfortunately, the streak was broken when he sustained a torn Achilles tendon while playing racquetball.

He was a prankster and a jokester and would do anything to get a laugh or a squeal out of people. Donald continued to be a cycler, true environmentalist and friend of the earth until his passing. He was a lover of all animals especially his beloved Lhasa Apso Maggie-Girl of whom he spoiled for 16 yrs.

Donald was an Auctioneer since the age of 16 and was the official auctioneer for Ducks Unlimited and many other organizations in San Joaquin County and surrounding areas. Donald served in the United States Navy 1951-1955.

He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him. We are all proud to call him Father, Grandfather, Uncle, friend, and neighbor. We will cherish all the memories and laughter he brought to our lives throughout the years.

A funeral is planned for May 18th at 1pm (Visitation will be from 121) at Cherokee Memorial Vineyard Chapel, Lodi. Reception to follow at Grace Vineyards 28001 Nichols Rd, Galt 95632.
