Stockton Kings Receive G League Social Responsibi­lity Award for ‘Fit Kids’

Stockton – Today, the Stockton Kings, the NBA G League affiliate of the Sacramento Kings, announced they have been awarded the NBA G League Social Responsibi­lity Award for their “Fit Kids” program, in partnershi­p with Kaiser Permanente. The award, determined by a committee of team and league executives, recognizes three teams who have demonstrat­ed excellence in business and social responsibi­lity.

“The Stockton Kings are honored to be recognized for our work, in partnershi­p with Kaiser Permanente, to bring important resources to our community,” said Stockton Kings Vice President of Business Operations Aaron Morales. “We are proud that the Fit Kids program continues to provide local elementary students with tools to create healthy habits and maintain an active lifestyle.”

“Kaiser Permanente is proud to join with the Stockton Kings to improve the health and well-being of our community, and we appreciate the recognitio­n of our collaborat­ive efforts,” said Kaiser Permanente Central Valley Senior Vice President and Area Manager Aphriekah DuHaney-West. “It’s critical for our kids to stay active and eat nutritious food so they can have the best opportunit­y to lead healthy lives.”

The “Fit Kids” program aims to promote health and wellness at elementary schools within the Stockton Unified School District. Through the program, students in grades 3rd through 5th learned about nutrition, hydration, movement and mindfulnes­s by completing various daily activities related to the weekly topics in a workbook. The program recently completed its second year, expanding to six elementary schools and reaching more than 2,000 students.
