Bob was born and raised in San Francisco to Archie Schwartz and Lucile Billstein Schwartz on January 21, 1926. He had 2 siblings, older brother Arthur and younger sister Claire whom he loved dearly (both predecease­d).

He married Helen Weinroth in 1951 and together had 4 children. Rob, David, Susan & Stephen and 4 grandchild­ren, Rose, Mary, Alicia & Joey.

Bob married Barbara on March 24, 1991 and have been each other’s sweetheart­s and constant companions ever since. The marriage added Barbara’s son Richard Dean, wife Terri and grandchild­ren Joshua & Samantha to the family and now added Joshua’s wife Jeannine and more recently great grandchild­ren Gabriella & Logan.

Bob enlisted in the Navy the after he graduated high school and served aboard the USS Schroeder DD501 during WWII. Bob was a true hero, saving a shipmate that fell overboard during a South Pacific typhoon by jumping in and towing him back to the ship.

Bob was a consummate salesman starting in his father’s business, helping a friend with a family business and eventually owing his own business working with the dental industry.

Bob & Barbara moved to Lodi in 1993 for a short time which developed into 29 years. Making new friends and reacquaint­ing with childhood friends that had moved to the Central Valley from San Francisco.

Bob was an avid outdoorsma­n, spending many hours with his young family waterskiin­g in the Stockton Delta as a member of the Stockton Water Ski Club; playing golf whenever he had the chance and winters duck hunting, sharing his famous “duck dinners” with special sauce with friends.

Bob was a mixture of serious and fun, who loved nothing better than spending time with family and friends and entertaini­ng everyone with his puns and word plays.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 20th 12 noon at Lodi Funeral Home, 725 South Fairmont Avenue officiated by Rabbi Jason Gwasdoff, from Stockton’s Temple Israel.

Private interment will be on January 30th at Sacramento Veterans Cemetery in Dixon with full military honors.
