DEWANE SCHUMACHER

Dewane Harvey Schumacher of Lodi was lifted to the Lord on November 30, 2022. Dewane was born in Bowdle, SD. to Arthur & Martha on March 28, 1934. He grew up on the family farm in Groton, SD. & in 1952 enlisted in the Navy, serving in the Korean War. In 1955 Dewane came to California, met & married his first wife Judy (McRae) Deschamp in 1956, & in 1959 his son Dennis was born. Several years later his career as a lithographer took him to the state of WA. & in 1981 he married Nita (Loftus). After retirement they moved to Desert Aire, WA. & spent many years traveling in their RV, golfing, fishing, enjoying flights with Nita piloting her plane & spending quality time with friends & family. A few years after Nita passed Dewane moved back to Lodi to be closer to family. During his life Dewane was a devout Lutheran, a member of the Elks, Eagles & Moose lodges & he volunteered at local hospitals & for Meals on Wheels.

Dewane was preceded in death by his parents Art & Martha, step-father Ray Keck, wife Nita, brother Wynn, sisters Arlene, Shirley Harstad & Margie Erardi, & grandson Alex. Dewane leaves behind his son Dennis (Becka), brother Dean (Betty), grandsons Jason (Brittany) & Tyler, & great-grandchildren Greyson & Mae. Dewane’s family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the entire Vienna Nursing & Rehab Center staff for the care, kindness, friendship & love they provided him over the last few years.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00pm on Jan. 22nd at the Lodi Moose Lodge, 3824 E. Woodbridge Rd. in Acampo. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Peter Lutheran School in Lodi, CA.
