Trees need trimming or cut down

-

Editor: I am happy that God answered our calls for rain. The Jan. 14, 15, 16 Lodi News-Sentinel article titled, “A storm-lashed tree damages your home or car-who’s going to pay for that?” by Jon Healy brings up points to homeowners and the city.

The article states, “…that if the tree was unhealthy and planted on your property, then your insurer could argue that the proximate cause of the damage your poor maintenance, not the storm. In that case, you’d have to foot the entire bill.” As for cars, it is the same. I see many homes around Lodi with huge trees (oaks, redwoods, etc.) that need to be severely trimmed or cut down. The same goes for trees on city property, especially sidewalks. I advised the city years ago to start trimming trees around town in the spring and summer times before storms.

One can have good shade and food with smaller fruit trees on your property. With high food costs, yes it would be a good idea to have fruit trees and a garden in your backyard. Years of drought have created dead trees. One can’t be lazy on yard maintenance. Homeowners, the city, and property owners (landlords who own rentals) need to take personal responsibility to trim trees or cut down huge trees that belong in the forest not in your yard. I have seen Lodi in the past year with a mounting trash problem and now the trees. It is time to put down your cellphone and funny you tube cat videos, start to clean up our city, and trim or cut down trees.

I’ve been disgusted for years

Editor: Lauren Murphy’s letter on how disgusting an F-Biden flag was interesting. Did Murphy consider that it was a reaction to the policies that Biden has enacted that’s torn this nation apart or does Murphy believe the person is just mean for no reason at all?

Did Murphy react with such disgust when in 2020 rioters destroyed cities, killed dozens and wounded over 2,000 police, caused billions in damage destroying small businesses?

Burning the American flag, burning down police stations and federal buildings while Democrat celebrities like Kamala Harris pushed to bail out these criminals?

Did Murphy reel in disgust when on Trump’s inauguration day in 2016 Clinton voters caused millions in damage in

Washington, D.C. and other cities with mass demonstrations across America screaming Trump’s election was illegitimate with every Democrat politician echoing and encouraging their voters that Hillary was the true president?

Was Murphy disgusted when a large contingent of Democrats in Congress refused to attend Trump’s swearing in considering him illegitimate?

Was Murphy disgusted when Democrats were proven wrong with Russia-gate, big tech colluding with the FBI and CIA to restrict free speech and censoring stories that would expose Democrat politician’s unlawfulness?

There’s so many more examples but if Murphy is equally disgusted with these examples then good.

We must be equal opportunity critics of political parties because most politicians of either party shouldn’t be trusted. My warning is that socialism not only destroys its enemies but it ends up destroying the very people who advocate it and many in the Democrat Party claim to be socialists pushing on us socialistic policies. As the old saying goes, “The difference between a socialist state and a tyrannical state is a matter of time.”

Don’t allow politicians blaming the pandemic or Russia on our troubles. It’s not a virus or Russia causing our problems, it’s the government’s response to them. As Sir Ernest Benn wrote, “Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly and applying the wrong remedies.”
