Robert Alva McCarty, age 87, passed away on February 23, 2023. He was born on February 27, 1935 in Riverside, California. He grew up in Corona on his family’s ranch. He attended Cal Poly Pomona and served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He married Judy McCorkell in 1958 before he left for Korea. When he returned home, they settled in Lodi and started their family. Bob was one of the owners of Town and Country Liquor and Deli and Big Valley Video.

Bob enjoyed spending time with friends, playing cards, watching westerns, camping, cruising, water and snow skiing, farming, and watching Giants baseball. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially grandchild­ren, nieces, nephews and great-grandchild­ren.

Bob is survived by his children, Morgan, Scott (Wendy), and Kelli; brother, Terry McCarty (Sharon); grandchild­ren, Jessica (Charles), Chris (Jessica), Shawn, Jeffrey, Kelsey (Brian), Makenzie (Jon), Hunter, and Sydney (Zach). He has 12 greatgrand­children and 1 greatgreat grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Judy McCarty, parents William and Margariete McCarty, and siblings Johanna, Jim, and Bill. Friends are invited to the viewing and Celebratio­n of Life.

A Celebratio­n of Life will be held Friday, March 3, at 11 a.m. at the United Congregati­onal Christian Church in Lodi. There is a public viewing on Thursday, March 9, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Vineyard Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park. Burial will be private at Cherokee Memorial Park. Donations can be sent to Hospice of San Joaquin.
