DENICE EILEEN BAKER

-

At 58 years of age, Denice Eileen Baker, passed on April 25, 2023, at the home of her brother, Calvin Baker, in Windsor. She was born on October 6, 1964, at the Marin General Hospital in Greenbrae, California to Calvin Sr. and Irma (Yanke) Baker, the youngest of six children.

Her siblings fell in love with baby Denice when she arrived home at 545 Country Club Drive in Santa Rosa. In 1978, the family moved to 270 White Cottage Road in Angwin, a home that was built by her father. During her early years she enjoyed horseback riding at Howarth Park, ice skating at the Redwood Empire Arena, and going to the Sonoma County Fair at the end of summer. Two exciting trips for her were ship cruises to the South Sea Islands in 1972 and the Caribbean Islands in 1977. But the trips she loved the most were going to Hawaii every spring break and to Disneyland every summer with the family.

Denice was given a Christian education by her parents. She attended school at the Redwood Empire Junior Academy on Wright Road in Sebastopol that would later be moved to Mark West Springs Road in Santa Rosa. In 1983, she graduated from Rio Lindo Academy in Healdsburg and went on to receive a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Carolina

in 1991.

Denice was an accomplished artist in various media and had her work displayed in several galleries throughout the Bay Area. She was a very adventurous person who liked to ride dirt bikes, yacht racing in the bay, and parachuting out of planes. Denice was health conscious, very knowledgeable about dietary and supplemental needs, and always giving advice to family members. She joined other family members in backpacking the entire 211-mile John Muir Trail in both 1987 and 1998. She enjoyed her walks and many of those were with her mother at Dana Point during her final years of life.

Denice was a loving and caring person. She assisted others in their final years of life such as Grandma Lydia Yanke, stepfather Victor Marak, and her mother, Irma Check, who passed away a year ago. We will miss you baby sister. You will soon be resting peacefully next to both your parents. See you again when Jesus comes to take us all to heaven.

She is survived by her brothers, Lonnie Baker of Vallejo, Larry Baker of Rialto, Calvin Baker of Windsor, William Baker of Whittier, by her sister, Judy Gianandrea of Stockton, by her nephews, Jon, Michael, and Steven, and her nieces, Sara, Mary, Susan, Priscilla, Ashley, Jessica, and Giuliana.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1 o’clock on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, by Pastor Joe Ray at the Vineyard Chapel located within the Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi.
