MARION VAUGHT

-

Marion Snyder Vaught, 75, of State College, died Monday, April 24, 2023, at Juniper Village at Brookline after a long illness.

Born December 5, 1947, in Stockton, CA, she was the daughter of the late Robert Marion and the late Kathryne (Kiefer) Snyder and grew up in Lodi, CA. On May 29, 1970, she married Russell Scott Vaught in Ames, Iowa, who survives.

She is survived by her daughter, Lauren Elisabeth Vaught and a granddaughter, Sloane Vaught, of Boalsburg; a brother, Lawrence Snyder and his wife, Leslie, of Lodi, CA; a sister, Joni Semer and her husband, Cory, of Woodbridge, CA, and two nieces Sierra Snyder and Whitney Semer.

Marion earned a Bachelor of Science from Iowa State University in Clothing & Textile Merchandising. After graduation, she began her career as a buyer. In State College, she worked for Aurum Jewelers until they closed.

Marion attended graduate school in computer science at Binghamton University. She did very well but dropped out telling her husband that she was not interested in computers and only liked the math courses in the program. She nicely balanced Russ who loved computers.

After they retired, Marion and Russ made two trips to Italy to visit friends there, a trip to Alaska, and a month-long car trip to the West Coast and back. They also spent part of two winters in Florida.

Marion had an elegant sense of style, which showed in everything she did. She loved to garden, entertain and cook, hobbies that she shared with her husband and daughter.

Memorial contributions designated on behalf of Marion should be sent to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
