NorCal D4 boys playoffs: Archie Williams 7, Galt 4

The Warriors’ season came to an end in the first round of the CIF NorCal Division IV playoffs on Tuesday, when fifth-seeded Archie Williams out of San Anselmo pulled away with four goals in the second half.

Miguel Garcia finished with a hat trick for No. 4 Galt, with three goals and an assist, to bring his season total to 60 goals and 30 assists, according to maxpreps. com. Christian Gomez also scored for the Warriors.

Galt finished the season with a 192-4 record, with its only losses coming against Natomas in the Sac-Joaquin Section D4 championship, and to Archie Williams in the NorCal bracket. Archie Williams (12-7-4) moves on to the semifinals, where the Peregrine Falcons will play at No. 1 University in San Francisco.

SOFTBALL Varsity: Tokay 15, Edison 11

Edison scored nine runs between the fifth and sixth innings on Tuesday, but Tokay had enough of a cushion to ride out the rally and win. Tokay tallied five doubles in the victory.

At the plate, Sophia Galletti went 4-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs and three runs, Hannah Nava went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs, Brooklyn Jeremic-Schaede went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs, Cloe Alves went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Makayla Lawson had a double and two runs, Anabelle Sikich had a single and two runs, Claire Wilson had a double and two RBIs, and

after he checked in. He also freed himself for a wide open layup — a too common occurrence for Golden State’s defense early on. But Poole’s game was familiar in the other direction as well; in his first six minutes, he attempted six shots and committed three turnovers.

The former Warrior finished with 12 points, six turnovers and a technical foul in 29 minutes.

Meanwhile, Paul’s return set the Warriors’ ideal second unit into place. With Paul, Thompson, Trayce Jackson-Davis and Dario Saric as the key four pieces, Golden State clicked. In one 50-second stretch, they went on a 12-0 run with four straight stops and three straight triples from Thompson, Saric, Paul and Moses Moody — back in the mix because of Andrew Wiggins’ absence (personal reasons).

Moody made Landry Shamet fall on a crossover and later made a fantastic play by pack-poking a steal and saving if from skipping out the baseline, leading to a Kuminga alley-oop dunk on the other end. Moody made the most of an opportunity that has largely escaped him.

Yet despite Moody and Paul — game-high +10 in the first half — playing well, the Warriors clung to just a two-point lead at half. Curry went scoreless in the half, missing all six of his 3-point attempts.
