Tigers shut out Bear Creek for non-league baseball victory

The Tokay High baseball team scored a victory on Monday, shutting out Bear Creek 5-0 behind six innings of two-hit ball from Joey Galletti.

Jake Sell pitched a hitless final inning with two strikeouts.

At the plate, Zack Sanchez went 3-for-4 with a double, Blake Goen went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, Brock Sell had a triple and two runs, Noah VanDyke had a double, and Conner Preap, Paul Buckley and Dante Rodriguez each singled.

Tokay was scheduled to play at Clayton Valley Charter on Tuesday, and will open Tri-City Athletic League play next week against West.

Varsity: Lodi 4, Inderkum 3

The Flames went 1-1 on Tuesday at the Christian Brothers Easter Tournament in Sacramento, with a 6-0 loss to the host team and a 4-3 win over Inderkum.

In the loss to Christian Brothers, Lodi tallied two hits, singles by Rylan Takahashi and Riley Walker, while Lorenzo Lew, Landon Beasley and Luke Leggitt made pitching appearance­s.

During the later game, Lodi scored two in the bottom of the seventh to rally for the win.

VOLLEYBALL

Varsity: St. Mary’s 3, Lodi 0

The Flames suffered a sweep in the opener of TCAL play on Monday, losing 25-15, 25-12, 25-23 to the Rams.

Lodi (2-8, 0-1 TCAL) is back in action next Monday with a home game against West.

Varsity: West 3, Tokay 0

The Tigers were also shut out, losing 25-12, 25-17, 25-16. Tokay (3-11, 0-1 TCAL) will host Tracy today.

JV boys: Lodi 2, St. Mary’s 0

The JV Flames started league play with a 25-8, 25-21 win on Monday, with eight points and three aces from Tyler Protz, nine kills and three aces from Jakob Bentz, 10 kills from Luvas Barosso and three kills from Devin Bono.

Varsity: Manteca 4, Tokay 1

Tokay lost Monday’s non-league game, with singles from Anabelle Sikich, Brooklyn JeremicSch­aede and Emma Misasi.

In the circle, Jeremic-Schaede gave up four hits and four runs (three earned) in two innings of work, and Sophia Galletti pitched four scoreless innings with three hits and two strikeouts.

Tokay (6-4) was scheduled to play at St. Mary’s on Tuesday, and will host Lodi on Thursday.
