DELGADO, Frances Yamas

A lifelong native of Chino, California passed away Tuesday March 30, 2021 at the age of 94 after sustaining a broken hip weeks earlier. She was surrounded by her family in the masonry block home her husband “Mago” built her on 9th Street. It was just 2 blocks from where she was born at 13248 11th Street (between D St and Chino Ave).

Frances was born December 1,1926 to Silverio Villalobos Yamas, who came to Chino from Yahualica, Jalisco, Mexico in 1906, and Ricarda Arreguin Zuniga who arrived here around 1908 from New Mexico.

A graduate of Chino High School, she married her high school sweetheart Margarito “Mago” Delgado in 1946. She was a homemaker until returning to work after her youngest son Frank entered school in 1970. She then began working for Chino Unified School District as an Instructio­nal Bi-lingual Aide until her retirement in 1991. She then spent a lot of time with many of her grandchild­ren babysittin­g and chauffeuri­ng them to and from school, catechism classes, and sport practices. She was baptized, received 1st Communion, Confirmati­on, was married and attended services at Our Lady of Guadalupe Chino as long as she could. She also taught catechism classes there for several years.

She is survived by her six (6) children: Martha Delgado of Los Angeles, Henry and Grace Delgado of Lindsay, David and Sharon Delgado of Chino, Helen Delgado Acree of Chino, Arthur and Melinda Delgado of Ontario, and Frank Delgado of Chino; eleven (11) grandchild­ren: Basil Acree of Chino Hills, Marc Delgado of Oregon, Irene Acree of Rancho Cucamonga, Marina Delgado Kialashaki of San Pedro, Desmond Delgado of Indiana, Rachelle Delgado of Washington, Vanessa Hernandez of Murietta, Sophia Roberts of Mira Loma, and Chelsea Weidenbeck­er of Monclair; and thirteen (13) great grandchild­ren: Aurora Acree, Reya & Lola Kialashaki, Jacqui & Jason Carrillo, Lily & Luna Delgado, Gavin & Avery Delgado, Alisa & Regina Hernandez, Koa and Jazlyn Roberts. She also is survived by her only living sibling Paul Yamas of Chino and many, many Yamas family members. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years “Mago”, her parents, 6 sisters: Tomasa, Cuca, Isabel, Irene, Francisca, brother Marcelino and her grandsons Alex M Delgado in 2004 at age 19 and Derrick M Delgado in 2021 at age 33.

The rosary will be at 7 PM Friday May 21 and the funeral Mass Saturday May 22 at 9 am. Both will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church 5048 D Street Chino followed immediatel­y by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery Pomona.
