April 13, 1929 - March 28, 2021

At Rest 3-28-2021, Palm Sunday at 3:00 pm It is with incredible sadness that I share with you the passing of my beloved wife Mary Jane Frystak. We met at a dance at St. Bartholomew’s Church in Chicago, Illinois. She was 19, I was 20. On Palm Sunday, March 28 at 3:00 pm, we held hands during her passage to eternity.

She was first my sweetheart and then my wife of 68 years. We had four children, Philip, Lynne, Paul, and Leo (who preceded Mary Jane in death) and there remain 10 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.

Mary Jane was a graduate of DePaul University of Chicago. An educator in primary level for 22 years in East Maine Public School District, Niles, Illinois. She loved teaching, cooking for family, and crafting. In her retirement, Mary Jane actively pursued many volunteer activities, including the Valencia Newcomers Club, the Senior Center Grief and Caregiver Support and, most importantly, the National Alliance on Mental Illness. She was a warrior for mental health and ending the stigma of mental illness. In her free time, Mary Jane loved playing Bunko and Mah Jongg.

Mary Jane was loved by her family, friends, neighbors and students. Her laughter resonates in our collective memories. Her kindness to all will live in the hearts of all that knew her. If you wish, play a game of Rumicub in her honor. Any donations in her memory can be made to the City of Hope. Mary Jane will rest at:

All Saints Cemetery 700 N. River Road DesPlaines, IL 60016
