Don Livornese, 60, of Redondo Beach, CA., died Monday, April 26, 2021 in Torrance, CA.

Don was born on September 1, 1960 in Nogales, AZ. The son of an American diplomat, he grew up in Nogales, Uruguay, Bethesda, MD., and Colorado Springs, CO. The beloved fourth child of a brood of five, Don was a fierce competitor and advocate. A talented athlete, Don excelled in gymnastics as a high school student, and particular­ly, in the still rings – finishing fourth in Colorado.

Don studied engineerin­g at the University of Colorado and remained an avid Buffaloes fan throughout his life. As a student, Don worked as a tour guide on the Pikes Peak cog railway, and spent a summer working for Union Oil in the Bakersfiel­d, CA. oilfields. Don attended law school at George Washington University in Washington D.C., where his brother and sister-in-law introduced him to the love of his life, Janet, whom he married in 1990. He graduated with honors.

A successful patent attorney and litigator, Don loved the practice of law. He was passionate about social justice and fighting homelessne­ss in the Los Angeles area. An avid cyclist and mountain biker, he found joy in collecting and rebuilding custom racing bikes.

Don loved Janet fiercely, and cared for her throughout her twenty-year battle with multiple sclerosis. Though he was devastated by her passing, Don remained a proud and loving father to his son, Grant, who was his whole world.

Don was preceded in death by his wife and best friend, Janet; and his parents, Joseph and Agnes Livornese. Survivors include his son, Grant, of Torrance, CA; two sisters, Joanne Kramer of Casa Grande, AZ. and Kathleen Livornese of El Cajon, CA; two brothers, John Livornese of Colorado Springs, CO, and Ned Livornese of Baltimore, MD; and twenty nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributi­ons may be made to the Shelter Partnershi­p, and the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles.

Don will be interred with his wife at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.
