1928 - 2021

-

Margaret Szabó Saltzer, aged 92, of Carson City, Nevada, passed away peacefully in the early evening hours of May 4, 2021 with her children by her side. Born in 1928 in Oakland, California, to the late Rev. Anthony Szabó and his wife Mária, Margaret spent many happy years in Los Angeles and Sierra Madre prior to moving to Carson City in the late1980’s to be closer to family.

Margaret is survived by her loving children Katherine, Ilonka, Nancy, Louis, Gigi and their families. She is also survived by her sister Martha and her family, as well as other relatives and many friends, near and far.

Inspired by her Father, who was the Pastor of the First Hungarian Reformed Church of Los Angeles, United Church of Christ, (elsoegyhazla.org) from 1946 until 1968, Margaret spent her life dedicated to serving God and community at the First Church. Over many decades, she served as: Organist, Pianist, Fellowship Coordinator, Youth Leader, Choir Director, Chief Elder and more.

Words cannot adequately describe the Congregation’s infinite gratitude for her years of service. Margaret was loved and respected and she touched countless lives with her grace, kindness, wisdom and love. May she rest in peace and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew her. The First Hungarian Reformed Church of Los Angeles would like to express our deepest sympathy to her family in the loss of beautiful, beloved Margaret. She will be profoundly missed. Nyugodj békében, Margitka, emléked legyen áldott.
