Yankees to give Judge an offer

New York Yankees star slugger Aaron Judge will soon get a proposal for a longterm contract extension, general manager Brian Cashman said.

Judge said he was “pretty sure” he doesn’t want to negotiate a new contract during the regular season. The outfielder, who turns 30 next month, is eligible to become a free agent after the World Series.

The Kansas City Chiefs signed Ronald Jones to a one-year contract, a person familiar with the deal told the Associated Press, adding some depth behind Clyde Edwards-Helaire in the running back room . ... The New York Jets signed former Cowboys and Rams kicker Greg Zuerlein to a one-year deal.

The Toronto Raptors’ game against the visiting Indiana Pacers was suspended in the second quarter and the arena evacuated because of a fire in a speaker hanging over the stands . ... Kyrie Irving told reporters he feels comfortabl­e being a member of the Brooklyn Nets and that he wants to remain teammates with Kevin Durant.
